Izzal Potter

Community Outreach Leader

Elizabeth, but Izzal: I was born in San Diego the only girl in a family of five kids. My folks moved us to the Central Valley when I was in kindergarten and I’ve pretty much been here since. My husband, David is my high school sweetheart. We reunited in our early 20’s and now have five crazy ass kids. They keep us busy, humble and ALWAYS seeking the Lord.

My gal-pal Cat and I head up the Community Outreach Ministry at First Street Church. Our current focus is on the Midweek Meal and Bible Study every Wednesday at 6pm. I love this ministry because I don’t think everyone is ready for Sunday mornings; it’s a lot of work, so to give the community a place to get a cheap-church-lady meal (you know what I’m talking about) a safe place for their kids, and edifying fellowship, is an absolute honor.

If I’m being honest, I don’t think I check all the boxes of being “a good Christian” on paper. I don’t have a bunch of Bible verses memorized, I cuss like a sailor, and the adult kickball league I play on once a week is VERY adult, to say the least. But I do know who I am in Christ. My righteousness comes from Him and Him alone, so at the very end of the day none of the boxes matter. I look forward to walking through the Word together, and hopefully helping you come to a life giving knowledge of who you are in Christ.
